PRE-K PROGRAM

Working together to preare your child for school and a lifetime of learning

Prekindergarten is a very important step for children as they begin the journey of a lifetime of learning. Our Prekindergarten program emphasizes independence while preparing your child for their next big step into the world—kindergarten!  We make the transition from prekindergarten to kindergarten smoother and your child more comfortable by helping them become familiar with a more structured environment. We focus on group play to develop social skills, such as listening, sharing, and cooperation. We work on developmentally appropriate activities based on each child's individual skills and readiness.  Our teachers have a passion for what they do and consider it an honor to work with you and your child in the preparation and advancement of your young scholar.

Features

In addition to our full preschool curriculum your pre-kindergarten child will have daily activities geared just for them.  Your child will work one on one with the teacher to prepare them for kindergarten.  Our Pre-K program includes but is not limited to:

  • Name recognition both first and last
  • Learn phone number and address
  • The opportunity to explore writing their name
  • Phoenomic awareness
  • One to one correspondence from 1-100 depending on child
  • Upper and lower case letter recognition and penmanship
  • Snap, Buckle, Tie, Button, Zip
  • and so much more.
Is your child ready for kindergarten?

Here is how you can help prepare your child for kindergarten.

  1. Have them practice writing their name the “kindergarten way”   (Jake, not JAKE)
  2. Practice counting numbers 1-20
  3. Practice naming upper and lowercase letters
  4. Learn the sounds of the letters
  5. Know their shapes and colors
  6. Encourage “self help” skills. Have your child practice doing everyday things by themselves.
  7. Have your child retell stories, sing songs, learn rhymes
  8. Read to your child every day!
  9. Have your child follow 2 step directions
These and many others are all things that we of course practice with them every day. However, it is always a good idea to reinforce these practices at home.

Many programs offer specific curriculum programs that they have chosen to work with.  We have found that children respond to variety.  We utilize many different curriculum programs to provide a wide range of experiences, learning, variety, and are better able to match each child's individual developmental level.

We do however, introduce and encourage letter recognition through our LETTER PUPPETS and phoenomic awareness through books, songs, and fingerplays.  We utilize Core Knowledge Curriculum.

Remember every child is unique in their own way.  Every child learns and develops in their own time.  Because our ratio's are 2:12 we are able to give your child the opportunity to develop on their own pace and work one on one with the teacher.
